The Vinci type of rocket with 465 s ISP would take this to orbit.
I have counted all velocities of the passenger plane version ( capable to hop into space...enclosed with 120 m wing span ). With this 85 people on bard it can fly electric to 18-20 km and then with a rocket ( 200 kN )to 80 km and stay below M10-M12 to avoid over heating at any stage. Without rockets and payload it could fly electrically at 45 km altitude at M 1,06...with 4 tons of batteries ( li-ion ). Awesome...eh ? ![]() You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post. _________________ http://mesoslaunch.blogspot.fi/ http://max3fan.blogspot.com/ |

In fact new count gave tops speed of M1.6 at 50 km....without passengers and rocket stuff.
Lifting fuselage is one thing that makes this possible with liteweight woodcomposite structure. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post. _________________ http://mesoslaunch.blogspot.fi/ http://max3fan.blogspot.com/ |

Monroe wrote: Sorry Monroe...I was so consumed by my vision 3 years ago that I did not know what you asked. The heating for Solar Eagle is not a problem...it brakes with 120 m2 elevator...90 degs the direction where the craft is goin at 220 km alt already....and starting to decelerate rapidly....turns the bottom sideways ( like re entry pod and decelerates in the really thin air as it is 40 times lighter in wing loading as a space shuttle was )...as the gas gets thicker all the time...at 120-110 km it is fully flying at re entry at M 14-12 speed...at 80 km it is below M7 at speed etc. I am starting the 1/40 scale r/c model soon. We counted that the props would provide thrust in space if the gear reduction was altered to turn the props at 50 000 - 100 000 rpm. Thrust generated at LEO is 10-100 times more than in a ION-thruster. info about flying supersonic on propellers is disputable ! No need to publish this kinda info ! Deletion by the author ! _________________ http://mesoslaunch.blogspot.fi/ http://max3fan.blogspot.com/ Last edited by topspeed on Fri Aug 26, 2016 6:47 am, edited 1 time in total. |

Due to the availablity problems in 2000 kw engines I switched to 4 x 1000 kw engines.

Output doubled. Craft can carry boosters to the orbit and thus build a rocket harness to embark the solar system at considerable speed...and or send a probe at tramendous speed toward the Proxima Centaur's recently discovered new exo-planet.
![]() The plane seems to be able to fly 750 kmh at 20 km altitude with electrics at 200 ton mass. _________________ http://mesoslaunch.blogspot.fi/ http://max3fan.blogspot.com/ |

Did you see the Swiss team is going to fly to 25 km with solar accu powered aeroplane on the news ?

idiom wrote: The power requirement would be more like 400% or 1600% which is the problem. The power draw will increase twice as fast as you increase the solarcells. You don't comprehend what I am trying to prove here. Did you know there were 2000 electric cabs in New York in 1889 and they had 1800 watt engines ? That isn't today even enough to heat the wind screen in a Ford. _________________ http://mesoslaunch.blogspot.fi/ http://max3fan.blogspot.com/ |

I calculated 14,5% of the speed of light for exit speed from our solar system for Proxima Centaur exoplanet ( that was recently found )using my Pluto Express variation.
Below the LEO reloaded with Xenon and max solar array result in Delta-v ( handy ). Anyone agree ? Mars excursion vehicle that does not land in Mars. Uses Xenon and solar panels.
This is a typical re-entry aeroplane but with 3 stages. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post. _________________ http://mesoslaunch.blogspot.fi/ http://max3fan.blogspot.com/ |

It is bigger now with ascent-descent device added.
I figure the 1st stage will lift this to 120 km at speed of M14. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post. _________________ http://mesoslaunch.blogspot.fi/ http://max3fan.blogspot.com/ |
