Sky really is the limit for new cruise line

By Todd Halvorson, Florida Today; A California company aims to launch tourists to space from Cape Canaveral by late 2006 and already is taking reservations.

Aera Corp. founder and chief executive officer Bill Sprague said the company is looking for Brevard County property to manufacture a fleet of 18 of its Altaris rocket ships.

The firm initially would hire 30 people. Ultimately, Aera’s would employ 500 or more, he said. Aera also is negotiating with resorts to find five-star accommodations for space tourists making weeklong stays on the Space Coast.

Sprague picked Brevard because of its existing launch facilities and the area’s corps of experienced space launch workers. Click here to continue reading this article at florida today.
