Heavy floods that have caused chaos in parts of the UK are being monitored from space.

UK satellite operator DMCii and international space agencies have agreed to use Earth observation satellites to take images of the affected areas to help response efforts.

The International Charter: Space and Major Disasters is used to mitigate both manmade and natural disasters. It was activated by the Cabinet Office on behalf of the Environment Agency on 28 June.
