At Baikonur Cosmodrome Khrunichev Makes Initial Preparations to Deliver Into Orbit JCSAT -11 Satellite for Japan

While the campaign to launch DIRECTV 10 in early July is under way at Baikonur Cosmodrome, Khrunichev is preparing its another Proton M for the next commercial mission with JCSAT-11 geostationary telecommunications satellite for JCSAT Corporation of Japan.

The de –assembled Proton M launch vehicle assigned for the JCSAT -11 mission was delivered in separate containers by rail to Kazakh Tyura Tam station from Moscow, on 16 June. Now Khrunichev team is conducting off–loading operations.

The offloaded containers will be transported by rail to Launch Vehicle Assembly and Test Building 92-A50 (“MIK”) and installed in Hall 111, where Khrunichev engineers will perform routine assembly and test operations with 1-3 stages of the rocket. These operations will be accomplished by 10 July.

The Proton Breeze M launch with JCSAT-11 will be the first Proton commercial mission for Japan. A2100 –based JCSAT -11 is being developed by Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems.

ILS has already performed 40 Proton missions and worked with all global satellite operators.
