SpaceShot, Inc. Expands to Latin America

SpaceShot, Inc. marks the week of activities leading up to and including the “Wirefly X Prize Cup” by announcing the founding of Space Shot América Latina (AL). The development of SpaceShotAL.com will multiply the firm’s effectiveness in bringing personal spaceflight to people of all means.

Founder and CEO of SpaceShot Sam Dinkin said, “A rush of personal spaceflight developments from Bigelow Aerospace, Space Adventures, SpaceX and Rocketplane Kistler have strengthened the groundwork for SpaceShot’s continuing rollout of spaceflight opportunities for the general public following the successful launch of Space-Shot.com in April. By adding to our staff, our funding and our geographic footprint, we will be better poised to help those who wish to travel to space realize their dreams.”

SpaceShot also announced today the completion of a new round of angel funding, doubling its initial capital invested. The funds will be used to launch a new site in the first quarter of 2007. The site will provide the new prizes, prices and a simpler version of the company’s unique on-line skill game.  

The company today also announced the addition and promotion of key executives:

  • Gina Dalma will serve as Chief of Business Development for Space Shot AL. She’s a graduate of Stanford and the University of London and former Director General of Auctions at the Mexico telecommunications agency COFETEL.
  • Allegra Young will serve as Chief of Marketing for SpaceShot, Inc. She is a graduate of the Harvard Business School and has 11 years of strategic interactive marketing experience, including with USATODAY.com and drkoop.com.
  • Anca Mosoiu has been promoted to Chief of Information and Technology.
  • Jessica French, daughter of Rocketplane Kistler Chairman George French, has agreed to sit on Space Shot’s board of advisors.

  • Dr. Sam Dinkin will speak at the International Symposium on Personal Spaceflight (ISPS) in Las Cruces NM this week.
  • Space-Shot.com will be at the X Prize Cup, the largest consumer space trade show.
