Richmond, B.C., (MDA) – MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX: MDA), a provider of essential information solutions, has received a $46 million (CAD) contract from the Canadian Space Agency to develop the next generation technologies and prototypes for international space exploration and spacecraft servicing missions. The contract also includes options for an additional $4 million of prototypes.

Building on the recent advances in applicable technologies and operational mission expertise, MDA will develop ground prototypes of the next generation robotic systems, for potential use in future Lunar and Martian orbital exploration missions, as well as in missions to service spacecraft in Earth’s orbit.

Investments in these next generation technologies will demonstrate Canada’s readiness to support future international exploration initiatives with unprecedented robotic capabilities for government and commercial uses.
