NASA Administrator Mike Griffin met for an hour Wednesday with the editorial board of FLORIDA TODAY, answering a wide range of questions. Here is a sampling of what we asked him and what the head of the U.S. space agency had to say:

On why it’s a bad idea to cut spending on space exploration to pay for short-term problems:

“Seven-tenths of 1 percent of the national budget is not a large figure, and even I don’t argue that it should be a large figure…”
