The event will be from noon until 5 p.m. Sunday at Las Cruces International Airport, located about 15 miles west of Las Cruces, off of Interstate 10.

“I’ve got my tickets,” said Melanie Dalton, a Las Cruces secretary who plans on taking her two grade school children to the event. “It’s going to be interesting and educational, regardless of what age you are. Ian Murphy, spokesman for the X Prize Foundation, said that is the intent of Sunday’s event.

“Everybody loves to travel,” Murphy said. “What we’re doing here is creating an alternative form of travel. Right now, it’s just for fun.”
Mayor William “Bill” Mattiace, co-chair of expo, said the emphasis Sunday will be on fun.
