Starchaser seeks help with exhibits
Starchaser Industries, one of the participating companies in the Oct. 9 Countdown to the X Prize Cup, urgently needs volunteers with “hands on” practical skills to help in preparing the Starchaser exhibits for the event.
Anyone with wood or metal working skills, or anyone that can handle a paintbrush, should call Starchaser Industries at 532-5997.
Starchaser is on schedule for launching its first rocket out of the Southwest Regional Spaceport by October 2006. Starchaser Industries, although originally a British company, has set up operations in Las Cruces, with offices located in the Pioneer Bank building on Telshor Boulevard.
At Countdown to the X Prize Cup, which will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 9 at Las Cruces International Airport, Starchaser will display a prototype space capsule called Thunderstar, and will also fire a large liquid rocket engine.
Tickets for the event are on sale at Pic Quik stores, Las Cruces City Hall and the Pan American Center Ticket Office. Tickets cost $8 for adults and $4 for students.
Tickets are also available on the Internet at www.xprize.org.Read more at lcsun-news.com
