Im not sure if this has been discussed but i would like to know how much money would you guys Spend to go into Space. What do you think a reasonable price range would be and how much would you pay?
Personaly, id pay anything upto 10,000 Pounds (GBP) to go fly sub-orb... Do you think it would be possible for Sub orbital flight costing that much in the future, say 5-10 years? Last edited by whoa182 on Thu Oct 28, 2004 10:58 pm, edited 1 time in total. |

It's possible that you'll be able to pay less, go higher and stay longer in less than five years.

There are 2 types of people. Some will say, "I can't afford it." Others will say, "How can I afford it?"
Regular sub-orbital flight is probably more than 2-6 years away. Everyone has the ability to say, "How can I afford it?" Personally, the answer is: Whatever it takes when regular suborbital flights begin, if I build my own business rather work as an employee to make money for someone else. _________________ "Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys." I say about 15-20 grand a flight, but Im not sure that will be possible until they have at least 100 or so ships from different private companies up in space.
Its a whole new market, they are all going to compete sometime.. _________________ Visit http://spacerace.blogspot.com/ |

The real question is, how much would your wife allow you to spend on a space flight! The answer is "less".

Me, Im willing IF I could Id pay about 5000 for a Sub Orbital trip & 10K to Mars or 20K to Mars IF in Hibernation Mode unless wecan get to Mars at 75,000 mps speed.
Space must be competitive to be effective. I call for: 1. Orbital Hotels, Condoes. 2. Lunar shuttle system from HEO. 3. Lunar Base & or Orbital Lunar hotel complex. 4. Transspace Mars liner to carry 300 to Mars. 5. Mars Hotel. 6. Orbital Mars Hotel complex. I call for 50 passenger suborbital shuttleplane fleet into Space & about 20 such planes worldwide by VirginGalactic or other. This is doable. Sure its possible... But if you are calling for that before you go to space, I think you'll be waiting a LOT longer than the rest of us will be! _________________ University of Central Florida Industrial Engineering Dept. When I made a journey to Ecuador nineteen years ago I had to pay around 1,800 German Marks for the tickets. I stayed four weeks there and had 700 $ available for living there, hotel and travels - 700 $ were less than 333 German Marks that year.
So let's say that I would pay 2,500 German Marks perhaps - a little bit more than 1,250 Euro. But that tiem I just had my university diploma and no employment yet. So perhaps I would double up to 2,500 Euro perhaps - may be 3,000 Euro. But we are talking about a suborbital flight - too much money for that not because of the adventure but in comparison to my income. Dipl.-Volkswirt (bdvb) Augustin (Political Economist) |
