Hmm.. The first 2 things that comes to mind is..
Money and sex...

Maby we could make som lottery or betting thing...
But that would involve legal and finance stuff...

I'm not sure about the sex part... sex sells, but its difficulte to be taken serious when naked people are involved.. :D

Maby we could make some small web games..
Not sure what genre thou..

Or as you said som information gathering stuff with a lot of statistisks...

money doesn't work and neither does sex, though it could be VERY funny to do something about zero-g sex....

I think the disision on what kind of software this should be, should not be taken hastily. I need a couple of days or a week to think of some really great ideas. I suggest you all take your time also. We should also find a chatroom where we can comunicate in realtime as a group.

All ideas, no matter how stupid should be gathered in an updateble list.
A voting system sounds like a good idea. Updateble comments in the idea list should also be an option.

It's freaky to be online at this moment with 6 and more people, posts are really going fast :)

Well I don't think we should make a chat, cause not everyone will else be up to date with the project, so we should use this topic to post a lot, but just keep it in this one and a few votes when needed.

And you have ICQ, maybe you can install AIM ? so you can join me with TerraMrs in the chat ;)

ok, posting is fine. But we still need an updateble idea list.
Also, a chat is good if it has a log of all messages. This form of communication is slow in a development phase.

I am up to making a webbased idea list.
I can make a demo and post it for you to se.
Then we can deside if it is good enough for further development.

Is this ok with you ?

It's ok with me, but with others also ? I suggest to make a poll asking it :) I may say a lot, but I'm not the person to decide.

If you find such a chat service ? share it with us, or if anyone else knows where to find such a chat service ?

EDIT: It seems you also are talking about Messaging chat applications, then yep we can save such texts.

ADDED: And take your time, I would say we will wait a week(like you suggested) before making any real decisions, so people have the time to vote and bring new ideas.

hey i think that this game is a brilliant idea and i would be more than willing to help.

i can code a bit, i would say that i am better on the visual/design/graphics side of things tho.

i have a few ideas, i dont know if their good or not but hey?!

i dont know if anyone ever remembers that game from ages ago called transport tycoon. It was a semi real time stratgey game whereby you started with a bit of money and built up a transport entreprise.

i think that a similar idea would be cool, howabout the player starts off with a small amount of money in 1995, and joins the x-prize team, from here the player has to manage thier team, search for resources (sponsers ect), create technology,(or they research it (the cost to them being say time) and they can trade off crappier technology for less time or better tech for more time ect) money would have to play a huge part to. Players would also have to buy all the machinery (or rent it through sponsers, other facilites ect)to produce thier spaceship ect. Maybe you could also play scenarios whereby you can choose to follow the footsteps of a team like sacled or sumthing and try live up to thier legend by researching similar concepts /tech ingame!

i think that a top down strategy game like warcraft 3 would be cool, (when it comes to construction ect) but you get to fly in your ship when it is complete.

anyways i hope you can understand my ideas, i always have a problem trying to get them across

maybe im jumping the gun or sumthing, but im just making a few suggestions!

projects like this are hard, very hard, ive being involved in a few and they are very time consuming. gonna need a good team of guys that are going to be focused all the way through, many opt out or whateva.

if this idea can get pulled off before the first x-prize launch, then....hay it will be on most peoples comps ;)

anyways hope to hear from u dudes!
