The Apollo 13 -catastrophy has been caused by a special mistake during the check of the oxygen container.
Inside the container there have been wires to provide electricity to a kind of turbine (I don't know the right english term this moment) that had to keep the LOX in a state like water. These wires had to be insulated to the oxygen to provide explosions and fire. The test equipment included a Celsius-scale to observe changes of temperatures. At the beginning of the test the temperature was far below 0° C - nad there was a certain temperature whne the insulation of the wires would be lost causing extreme danger. But the Celsius-scale didn't provide degrees higher than 27° C. The sacle at least did show that point.. - and couldn't go higher. In fact however a temperature inside the container was achieved that burnt the wires. When the container were used at Apollo 13 the turbine was set to action - the wires were condicting electricity while in direct contact to te LOX. This at least caused the explosion. So the danger wasn't the oxygen but the wires and the container - don't worry about the oxygen. Dipl.-Volkswirt (bdvb) Augustin (Political Economist) |

Well, he's got decent PhotoShop skills, but that's about all I can say for it.

I'm in the middle of October sky. A miner father stops the future.
So legitimate. Jealousy. I'm getting flamed by unknown user. Moderators have lot of power to abuse my ideology and my innovative ideas. So, I decide to quit. I know fans will get upset. ![]() ![]() Later. |

He doesn't stop him out of jealousy...
He just wants to protect him from disappointment. _________________ What goes up better doggone well stay up! - Morgan Gravitronics, Company Slogan. |

Maybe the moderators should remove the ability to edit posts that have been responded to, or have gone "unedited" for more than a day.
It's impossible for anyone new to reading this thread to see ShuttleBlabs dribbling foolishness which some of us responded to ... because he's gone back through the whole thread and deleted it all. Now the context is lost. On second thought, perhaps it's for the best after all. DKH P.S. for some very strange reason (i.e. I don't know what it is) in a few of the cantons of Switzerland you had to be at least 7 years old to see the movie "October Sky" ... wierd-o-rama! _________________ Per aspera ad astra |
