I’m celebrating with bacon, eggs, pancakes with 100% pure maple syrup and cup or two of joe (OK so it’s not a bottle of Dom, but I woke up early to watch). Congratulations to Scaled Composites, Ansari, even the other teams, and to everybody who has made this possible. Playing a friendly game of poker in 0G will be very interesting. God speed fellas!

Orbital missions are still a long way off..... Hmmmm!....No private group or individual has reached an altitude of over 100 miles yet. It will be done, I predict, in the next 3 years. In 3 years, a private manned spaceship, will top the 100 mile mark. Then?...Alan Shepard's suborbital record will have to be broken. |

According to my knowledge, Burts "Tier Two" plans are orbital. "Tier Three" is beyond earth orbit, though not interplanetary.
Oh, and by the way, Congrats to Burt Rutan, Mike Melvill, Brian Binnie, and the rest of the Scaled Composites Team on winning the Xprize! I can't wait for Tier Two... Last edited by Rubbernecker on Mon Oct 04, 2004 11:53 pm, edited 1 time in total. |

They talked a bit about Tier 2 and Tier 3 on the Discovery Channel Black Sky show that aired last night... Tier 2 will be orbit and Tier 3 is a deep space mission, sending vehicles out of the solar system and beyond. They showed some of Burt Rutan's sketches and I can't wait to see what comes from them because they looked quite amazing...

Hey, those of us not in Vermont or Canada like to have some real maple syrup, too! At this point, I'm a Californian and I've never lived in any of those places.
I had cereal because I was running late. My wife was unhappy because I didn't have tea ready in time. |

LOL, I was born in Denver, but lived in Vermont for a few years when I was a kid. That's where I probablly got spoiled off REAL maple syrup and not that fake stuff. And my brother always brings me REAL maple candy when he visits... better than M&M's!
I live in San Diego now. LOL, I woke up early, not slept in. _________________ "A true researcher must have confidence in nonsense." -Burt Rutan "I feel sorry for people whom are "down to Earth", because that's where their imagination will stay as well." -Me, Paul Chittenden |
