Wouldn't it be more accurate to say that England truly lost since they couldn't build their own winning ship and had to license an American one?
![]() Even Canada is pretty far ahead of England. It's a good thing that something like a third of Englands population is on Prozac and contaminating the water with it for the rest of the population. Sorry to throw jabs at the English, my cousin will make me regret that one someday. Where do these people come from anyway? Shouldn't they be on some web site related to that low life kaysing? ![]() |

As an English person myself, and one who can type, and has a vague grasp of English grammer, I would like to disassociated the UK from this, well, for want of a better word, moron!
I do find it amazing that people can come up with this sort of nonsense - I have been following the XPrize for years - I went to Starchaser to talk to Steve Bennett about doing some work there (turned out to be too far away to make it time effective), and have followed Scaled since their first announcment. It makes me proud to be human and to know that there are people out there who are willing to do this sort of thing for the benefit of Mankind - it doesnt matter what country they are from, what religion they are. The benefits from this will be worldwide - maybe not at first, but look at the airline industry - started at Kittyhawk, and now is worldwide. It doesn't matter who won the XPrize - just the fact that it has been won is the most important thing. James |

Well put, James, well put.
To quote the Bard: "Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon 'em." (Twelfth Night. Act ii. Sc. 5.) In the case of rocket pilots I believe the "thrust upon 'em" might apply in some measure, eh? --Ralph ![]() _________________ --Ralph Roberts CEO, Creativity, Inc. author of THE HUNDRED ACRE SPACESHIP http://1vid.com |

They are based on boundaries created by non-indeginous people conquering the indeginous people. _________________ www.theshiversmusic.com |

roygrif, the general theory of political boundaries has little to do with the topic of this area, 'Who's going to lead the race to space.'
As a moderator, I request that we all get back closer to being on topic. Thanks! --Ralph _________________ --Ralph Roberts CEO, Creativity, Inc. author of THE HUNDRED ACRE SPACESHIP http://1vid.com |

Principles
I cant understand your motives and lack of historical knowledge just past. If you were actually following the x-prize like everyone else posting here, you would be well aware that SpaceShip One was 100% designed, built tested and flown by Burt Rutan's crew. 100% American. The Virgin Galactic partnership was only announced after the first X-Prize flight, which was the second time they have reached over 100klm. Let me speak slowly.... SpaceShip One is a 100% private American venture Mike Melville and Brian Binney are the first private Astronaughts and they are both American Virgin Galactic and Richard Branson had NOTHING to do with the development, production, technology or flying or SpaceShip One, NOR did they invest in the company or input any intellectual property. Mojave Aerospace Ventures have agreed to supply Richard Branson, in the future, a licence to produce the second generation SpaceShip One, in order to offer Space Tourism sub-orbital flights. If you are simply trolling, then good on you, go crawl back under your rock, if not, please do the smallest amount of research before you go shooting off your mouth. |
