Good for them, that's cool news. From thier website:
Midia Cape The launch date of the Demonstrator 2B rocket was set for September 8, 2004. The unmanned launch will take place from Midia Cape Air Force launch site, on the Black Sea shore. The Demonstrator 2B will be launched at a low altitude, below 5 000 m, mainly because of the launch site restrictions. The main objective for this flight will be to qualify for flight the world first composite materials monopropellant rocket engine. The engine that will boost the rocket already completed 28 ground tests. |

It was a very bad weather.Cap Midia si near the Black Sea.And we had wind with impressive spead, and a tehnical problem that was solved in 12 minutes, but the launch was postponed. They will launch today if the weather is ok in the interval between 13.oo and 15.oo o*clock (the local time).
Today we have wind: 22 mph / 36 km/h from the NE , vizibility 6.0 mile / 10.0 km. Let*s hope it will be ok. I have some pictures from yesterday..but i was in the security zone at a considerable distance from the Demostrator 2B. i*ll see what i can do so you can see the pictures too. If the launch will take place, i will tell here. |

Good work mate. Sorry you can't get there today but let us know what goes on if they get good launch conditions today. (Black Sea looks lovely, any holiday resorts nearby?

Do you know what the maximum speed and altitude were? Also, was the rocket successfully recovered?

The vehicul was recovered, but..the weather was so bad that the racket was recoverd from the ground, not wather...so..is not in a good shape
.They made the launch despite the weather, just to test the engine, and the faibility, beacuse you know that ARCA has an engine made by composite materials and the fuel is oxigen and water. I think that the site www.arcaspace.ro will be soon uploaded and you will find there every answer for every question i.ll try to make some photos from the film of the launch and put them on a site so you all can see it.But i hope that the team will put pictures on the website, sooner than me |
