Well, our house made it through without a scratch, but at least seven (that's as many as we've seen) other houses within our neighborhood (about a five-block radius) have been completely totaled, including two just across the street from us.
Luck, folks. All luck. _________________ American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering In Memoriam... Apollo I - Soyuz I - Soyuz XI - STS-51L - STS-107 |

Hey peeps. I have to say, reading this thread is somewhat surreal. You guys (and girls of course, happy belated birthday eraurocktchick87) are really taking a battering down there. I wonder if you should have better building codes for area susceptible to these conditions? Global warming is going to make this a more regular occurrence too. Scary. Hell, I'm upset if my power goes off and lets my fish tank cool down. Dunno how I'd cope without power for days at a time. Guess I'd invest in a wee generator. Here in little ol' Blighty we have varied, yet mild weather most of the time, so seeing what real weather can do is just mild boggling. Makes great TV though!
