Beautiful! The new design and content is GREAT! I especially like the Rocket Science 101 page. Great links and thanks from all the hams out here for mentioning Amateur Radio and providing links to the ARRL and AMSAT.
I don't normally like Flash websites but this one is a big exception! The only thing I noticed was that the copyright notice on the bottom of the pages was too dim. Ya! Big detractor!!! _________________ Ken Linder - KC7RAD "We turned our gaze From the castles in the distance, Eyes cast down On the path of least resistance" Rush, "A Farewell to Kings" |

EDIT: from lack of better info, i assume you're talking about the xprize homepage, but it's very unclear. _________________ Cornell 2010- Applied and Engineering Physics Software Developer Also, check out my fractals |

I like the way it no longer fits horizontally on the screen and is slower and less visual than the old homepage.

well there are really 2 sites that have gotten new designs recently: the xprize main site and the xprize news site. i hadn't looked very much at the main site, so i didn't recognize the 'build a rocket' thing. well, to tell the truth, the only reason i was there at all was for the press release, and i didn't look at the design.

By the way, on the new XPRIZE.org site, the team pages have some new information you probably haven't seen before. Go to a team page and then click "download fact sheet." The fact sheets are pretty up-to-date and include cool behind the scenes stuff.

I think they should at least be kept on the website, if only in a secondary category. I mean, we all know the Xprize will be over soon, that's a moot point (esp. if it expires in January), but there is more to this than just the Xprize. (And I don't mean the XCup, but that would be a valid reason as well to continue updating people about dreams made into form). Perhaps they could excise the ones who haven't gotten off the drawing board, but still, even those deserve notice if not only as an inspiration to others, and to confirm that there are more than a dozen people who are struggling with this endeavor. What if, as the Xprize itself draws to a close, this site is reorganized into categories - teams with functional rockets who will compete in the XCup, teams with works in progress with 1-5 years to go in development, and teams in financial/development limbo. This thing is going to be huge (fingers crossed), and there's no need to focus *all* of our attention on SpaceShipOne - binarysunrise |

I wonder if there's some sort of official rule or process for teams to become inactive... Anyone know?

These teams pony up the money for a XPrize entry. I think it is not expected that the XPrize committee gave them a mention on the website in the past even if they did not do anything after than.
Now that the XPrize is coming to a end, i would think they would have gotten a good publicity run for that entry fee they cough up for the past few years and now, XPrize has decided to cull them. Maybe Xprize should just put them into another section? After all, this isnt just about the winners and the working teams. It's also about the ideas and the dreams of ordinary people. Sure, they might not have gotten off the ground but it doesn't mean we should blot out their dreams |

I guess it's all speculation until someone from the foundation gives us an official answer. If noone has actually asked them, I'll do it...
