Continue large Graphene sheets?

Could this be done to make layers that are both radation reflecting (carbon) supercacitive and structural? Like a ubber monocockpit? So graphene/carbon fiber/diamond printed? _________________ Let not the bindings of society hold you back from improving it.... the masses follow where the bold explore. |

Don't think so. At least not in this implimentation because of the way the individual supercaps are fabricated. What you would want is one that is more thread like that can be embedded in a non-conductive resin matrix like regular carbon fiber so you get both charge storage and the high tensile strength of the graphene. The catch though is that won't easy to do.

I don't know that such a material will have all the miracle properties you suggest. I haven't tested them, obviously, but odds favor all the other possibilities than the ones you want to see. Another example of reverse scientific method, starting with the conclusions, and making up stuff that sounds like it should fit the build. This is how Mythology was created, not sound practical materials, and designs.
I think you were better off with the laminate composites. Find 3 materials with the properties you want, and sandwich them in layers. The reflective ones should be on the outside. Graphene would stiffen such a composite, (Hexagonal tessalations don't flex very well) IDK what you mean by "Supercacitive." Super Capacitive, perhaps? Graphene is technically a di-electric, so could be sandwiched between conductive layers like Aluminization, and wired up for Capacitance like the Arc of the Covenant. Not precisely sure why you'd want that property, however. One major problem with Graphene is that if it doesn't have the properties you want, it can't be modified. The planar crystaline structure is stable, but any doping to make a semi-conductor tempering, or macroscale flexing would likely disrupt the very thing that gives it strength, and hold it together in the first place. Try this, pack a box full of cans, in an interlace pattern if it'll fit. Now, pick it up, and try to twist the edges skew. Now, set it down, take 1 can out of the middle, and replace it with a larger can, or a smaller one... It doesn't work. Go back to composites, and simulate what you can with graphene as an Interstitial layer. _________________ "You can't have everything, where would you put it?" -Steven Wright. |
