By combining an existing idea http://www.newscientist.com/mobile/arti ... craft.html with my own idea, using a maglev launcher to accelerate to insane speeds a ground level, and shield the ship with an intense magnetic plasma shield, could be made into a new type of fusion engine, that is fed pre-heated plasma from the heat shield, and relies on the plasma pressure to boost its magnetic density, a device like this might break even easier because it exploits a high energy threshold first stage and support to initiate the fusion, and then the reaction would carry it to space.
Any ideas on how to generate microwaves from plasma? _________________ Let not the bindings of society hold you back from improving it.... the masses follow where the bold explore. |

Different elements radiate at different temperatures (frequency) in a plasma state. If you intake material is air, then what wavelength does nitrogen and oxygen radiate at? If you can't use that "easy" way, then there might be a way to magnetically twist the plasma to excite and emit...
