Earth-Lunar transport

I've always thought this idea obvious but never really sought feed back so ....
Once we have a permanant "private" space station would a Lunar transport (ferry) that never lander on Earth (and might not even the Moon) be used? We could launch four or five people to the station at a time using different vehicles and companies (preferably with in a week or so) then all fifteen or twenty (or more) set sail for the Moon. It can direct land or have a seperate lander in orbit at the Moon. |

Yes. You can even used the engines and assorted other mass you used to assemble the station and get the people up there as components for your trans-lunar ship.
The only real down sides are that its extra steps/complication (going to LEO, docking, transferring around, etc), and that matching an intercept from the moon to a station requires a lot more precision and smaller windows than just making sure you hit a particular patch of ocean. |
