Earl, if I have no right to offer suggestions and observations, what gives you the right to tell me what to do..
and on top of that ironic symmetry, I am right and you are not. so until you can debate topically instead of mindless attacking me, perhaps you could be silent? |

Not only is it ironic, or symmetry, it's both ironic and symmetry. Or is it symmetrical irony? With these complicated words, I can't tell. By the way, Dan, I'm psychic. _________________ “Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.” -Anonymous |

Stop posting mindless demands, and that is exactly what you have posted demands never suggestions or observations, all your junk posts are filled with mindless demands. Stop posting them and I will stop posting against you as well. PS. I have finished at-least 50% of the projects I have started, can you name one thing you have complete yet? |

I would much rather have nobody respond to the troll at all. Just an observation, not a demand ![]() AA, congrats on the good flight, expecting to see you in space soon (at least for a few seconds) |

Did I miss something? 137,000 feet was their initial estimate, subsequent analysis showed that they'd gone a lot higher. See the press release about it and the pictures on ParabolicArc. I wonder though, is the ballute image digitally edited? It doesn't look completely realistic. From the caption it may be a drawing to illustrate the next flight. Or did the rocket split up into two parts and did one take a picture of the other? _________________ Say, can you feel the thunder in the air? I think 137kft was someone else's estimate, not AA. That was the height the previous STIG reached.
I doubt the image is edited - things do look odd that high up - no atmosphere or blurring to contend with. Edit: Also the camera would be a bit confused - large areas of black would tend to force over exposure, hence the very bright balute. Space isn't a common use case for gain control in a camera! |

Thanks. I didn't see the higher estimate until after the post. The photos are a clear indicator that the flight went higher.
The balute photo does look correct to me. It appears to be the main body camera that took the shot and that this might be a still capture from the video. Looking at the cables, it appears that the nose cone is 'up' out of the frame. _________________ Home of the Apollo 13, Liberty Bell 7 |

Yeah, looks like it's real, see the press page at Spaceport America (also has higher-resolution images if you're looking for a desktop background). I think it's mainly the high saturation and contrast that made it look unrealistic to me. Good point James, that could easily be the camera not dealing well with the lighting conditions in space.
Anyway, 50 miles is really very high, and with a vehicle that is technically the same as the mods we've seen hover around for years. Looks like they were a bit of a wolf in sheep's clothing ![]() I'm looking forward to the next try, see if they can make space, and get the ballute working better. It looks like it deployed correctly at least initially this time, so with a bit of luck and a few more tweaks...come on guys! _________________ Say, can you feel the thunder in the air? If memory serves, 50 miles was what was expected for the Space Adventure flights in the fish bowl mode out of Spaceport America (for lots less than Virgin). Likely it would need to be a bigger vehicle since the fish bowl, seat and extreme passenger would add some mass!

This from Space Adventures seems to be the latest version and certainly does not have the fish bowl.
