Hi
For those of you that haven’t seen it yet CS have begun blogging quite frequently at Wired http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/rocketshop btw. They are testing the engines of a two stage soundingrocket this weekend capable of reaching 80+ km because they want to make a testbed for their radioequipment. The system is to be launched next spring. Their tests on guided rockets is comming along quite fine together with their launch escape system (LES). The LES system is beeing developed to test the manned capsule and the parachute systems. |

New educational video from Copenhagen Subobital in english.
Peter explaines his latest pet Project, a new and larger experimental liquid rocket engine. A very detailed and good presentation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=bqASqda0ylc |

Indeed, great video. It's clear that Peter has quite a bit of presentation experience, his delivery is great. I would perhaps have added a few less technical descriptions ("it goes boom", "like a firecracker") in there for less technically inclined audiences. Then again, maybe they're not watching anyway

Vid
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfsTCkbN96s Amazing stuff! When I first heard of these guys and looked at the concepts I was a little sceptical! - Looking at them now I really think they might just go all the way! Could be a dark horse in space tourism! It was a really nice testday and an impressive engine. The sound was totaly different from the LES engine. TM65 gave off a low frequent humming and LES was more like a crackleing white noise. I'm impressed with CS water soundsuppression system that also protects their teststand. There was not a scratch to be seen on the ground beneth the engine.
The results are that the engine only gave ½ the power it was supposed to because of problems with getting enough pressure on the tanks from N2. So we can look forward to more TM65 tests after the summer launches of Saphir, Smaraugd and LES rockets. |
