I did post this in another thread but think it fits here too http://science.slashdot.org/story/11/03 ... eedfetcher Me i think i would find it hard to pick so to cheat i would choose a destination not built yet a luxury space cruise liner touring the solar system and if a descent FTL drive is ever invented i think it would be nice to find a habitable planet in a near cluster so that that this galaxy hung in its night sky showing the full whirlpool effect. _________________ Someone has to tilt at windmills. Gleise 581g would be a bit fun. Because arriving there would indicate that we have the technology for prolonged spaceflights and survival in space. Or we've managed to be able to travel large distances in small time periods via warping or something.

I would pick something as "close" as Mars, because there is potential for a colony in the not so different future, and I just might be able to realize that dream some day!

A roundtrip through the Saturn system is probably the most awesome thing we could realistically be able to do with foreseeable tech (radiation shielding, VASIMR, life support etc.).
The look out of an analog of the cupola on the ISS must be spectacular! _________________ pride comes before a fall |
