Are you still using the equipment listed on your site for astrophotography?
Any suggestions on what to purchase if I intend to pick up that as a hobby myself? I currently only own a super-crappy cheapo refractor from my childhood days, but I have been considering getting a dobson for quite some time now. I don't have a DSLR myself, so I guess I would go for some webcam solution. _________________ pride comes before a fall |

Yeah I did have a fairly good refractor with goto mount but i got so annoyed with having to go out in the day, line it all up, make it flat, test it 20 times, wait for it to get dark, see i didnt do it right, redo it in the dark etc.
I am sure people who have a lot of time will much prefer a goto mount etc but for me it is just about looking out, seeing a clear sky then rushing outside (or through the window in this photo haha). I would highly recommend a dob, they can be very cheap for the light you are getting! Only prob is you can't do long exposures or keep anything centred for a great deal of time. If you want to run out and just view the night sky, possibly image the planets, Moons and Suns then go Dob! I picked up a modded webcam and it is great! Let me know how you get on Rob _________________ > http://www.fullmoonclothing.com > http://www.facebook.com/robsastrophotography > robgoldsmith@hotmail.co.uk |
