We've been experimenting with small scale magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) generators this week. The generators extract electrical power out of the chemical power of a rocket engine.
This will let us run our engines in two modes. The first primarily for thrust and the second primarily for power generation. There are two videos on our blog of the units firing. http://jpaerospace.com/blog/ |

Hi, JP,
What is your planned timeline for the next year or two? _________________ “Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.” -Anonymous |

We'll be getting the Tandem airship in the air and we have a lot of engine work to do. Toward to the end of next year we'll have the next Dark Sky Station flying. This DSS will be a little 50 foot version but it will be our first one with the internal arm structure that matches those of the giant ones to come.
We also have about 8 balloon mission on deck. These are testing gear and doing commercial work to pay for it all. |
