Now this thread allows both comedic and drama space genres.
If i would, I would like to put a 2 movie maximum post for greatest ever. Most votes will be kept track of so votes can be tabulated. Now. Here are my contributions Star Wars: A New Hope Star Wars: Return of The Jedi Last edited by Sinzoid on Thu Jun 04, 2009 11:18 pm, edited 1 time in total. |

The most recent one I saw was the current Star Trek movie, which is excellent, but I'm going to list two others:
2001: A Space Odyssey (Stanley Kubrick/Arthur C. Clarke) Sunshine (Danny Boyle, Alex Garland) |

For serious space movies, its probably much easier to tabulate the worst movies.
But, um. Is October Sky a space movie? _________________ What goes up better doggone well stay up! - Morgan Gravitronics, Company Slogan. |

October Sky
2010: The Year We Made Contact (2001 is a very good movie, but 2010 paints a more realistic, if you can call sci-fi realistic, picture than 2001's artistic and eerie story. BOTH are excellent in their own way) ![]() |

For elements of realism:
Apollo 13 The Right Stuff 2001: A Space Odyssey Astronaut Farmer October Sky Pure fantasy: Star Wars trilogy (the original trilogy) |

Apollo 13. It's a good movie, as a movie. At least if I remember correctly . . .

Ah thats too bad! ![]() I liked the story involving Neptune, the trip there (inside cylinders filled with water), ion engines etc. I thought it was realistic enough and interesting. Well, what are your favourite sci-fi movies? ![]() _________________ Gygantar "What matters is not the destination, but the Odyssey!" |

ROTJ for Sci-fi, Apollo 13 for realism! =D There are movies for the Mercury program (The Right Stuff), and there are some on Apollo...are there any for the Gemini space program? _________________ Gygantar "What matters is not the destination, but the Odyssey!" |

My personal favorites include Dune, Moon and silent running... If I had to be picky, and Chuck, it would be Avatar. It absolutely blew me away and the whole room away while I watched it,and I would even say it will be 80% of all audiences everywhere.
