i don't understand your post.. if you're suggesting that it would be possible for the shuttle to get anywhere close to the sun, you are sorely mistaken. the shuttle can't leave LEO.

Read the book Sundiver by David Brin for exactly this sort of proposition (but without the Spaceshuttle bit).
It's SF but he uses a silvered/mirrored sphere plus a laser to get rid of excessive energy absorbed. It's a nice idea, but set 1000 years or more in our future..... |

IMHO not a troll, but a schizophrenic. I base this on several conversations I had many years ago with someone who was later diagnosed as such. The juxtaposition of ideas is at the same time wrong-headed, and yet, in some way, sophisticated. English being a second language may be a compounding factor.
