Post Scorpius plans   Posted on: Sun Nov 29, 2009 2:39 am
Hey, all. I've been a lurking-only member of this forum for almost a year now, mostly to get the latest news on AA's work. A few months ago I got inspired to build a flying model of the rocket on AA's logo.

I call it Widget's Ride:

Image

Just under 31" long, weighing 3.6 lbs with two 29mm motor mount tubes.

Now I'm interested in building a flying model of Scorpius and was hoping one of the AA guys here could help me out with some plans.

I'm looking at around 1/3 to 1/2 scale. I'd like to get more than just photographs so I can get the details right.

Any chance of getting this?

Please :)

Awesome! What did you use for the body?

Thanks.

The core is a 2-1/2" LOC airframe tube. The outer moldline is styrofoam shaped with a hot knife, then covered with a fiberglass sock.

Based on the average size of an armadillo, I'd say it's about 1/2 scale :)

If I can talk someone from AA into giving me some dimensions, I hope to use the same techniques to build a large scale model of Scorpius. I'd prefer the version with the aerodynamic shell on the nose.
