 Tower Jet Posted on: Wed Nov 04, 2009 8:04 pmDoes anyone know the purpose of the tower jet on the 1960s era apollo rockets. Iam still trying to figure that out.

Re: Tower Jet Posted on: Fri Nov 06, 2009 9:05 pm While watching the movie Apollo 13 about 75% into the flight they activate the tower jet and it rockets away from the spacecraft does that contain the amergency parachutes? I'am still trying to figure this out.

Re: Tower Jet Posted on: Sat Nov 07, 2009 12:22 am Its the Abort stage. Through most of the ascent it has the ability to pull the command capsule away from the rest of the rocket.
