Just been reading that Rocketplane terminated their office lease in Oklahoma City.
After $18 million, Rocketplane only launched empty promise for Oklahoma Wednesday, July 15, 2009, By Scott Cooper and Ben Fenwick Article Here There are promises, and there is pie in the sky. Ten years ago, a company promised it would start an airline service of nonstop flights from Oklahoma to the coasts if the state of Oklahoma and the city of Tulsa handed over tens of millions of dollars. After taxpayers subsidized the startup through tax credit legislation, the airline went bankrupt and was eventually grounded. Bit sad about that i guess! we did some interesting articles with Rocketplane representatives. http://spacefellowship.com/2007/10/26/3476/ ![]() |

To some extent they are a victim of their partnership with Kistler and the bad publicity that came with getting thrown off the COTS program but having had that much money one would have expected something to have flown. Afterall I've seen reports that Paul Allen spent a similar amount sponsoring Spaceship One and that actually got in to space, where were their test flights and hardware (even without rocket power)?
Too much spent on salaries, premises and promotion not enough on actual hardware. A shame since I thought the basic idea was good. ![]() _________________ A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. |
