Has anyone else given any thought to an N-prize Foundation? It would be like the X-prize Foundation, except that the prizes would be a lot smaller, and the goals would be more ambitious

No offense to Dr. Paul Dear but I have considered several times to offer a new prize for more money and a slightly bigger payload but then what? And that was because it's just darn hard to figure out how to win this PRIZE but thats half the fun! of course more money would be nice.

I think the informality is most of the fun.

Actually it is as near perfect as could ever be consived. It really makes it tough and right on the edge. and the fact that the prise money is so low is perfection complete. It makes you want to improve it and alter it just enough, but after looking at it for so long. It can't be improved much if any.

Well, the 'foundation' would just be organized (or not!) in the same way the current N-prize is.

It definitely wouldn’t hurt to help Dr. Dear out over there! Spread the word. Help with media. Help the teams. Do what you can, help Dr.Dear get around you know

I do not think it's a good idea to disturb, diffuse the N Prize mission as formulated by Payl Dear untill someone wins it or at least makes an actuall try.
Let's do this and not make it dissolve into an aimless chat. Charles Pooley Microlaunchers entrant |

I mean that there seems to be, in the space development movement, a tendency to focus on some final part of a system and overlook what has to be done first. For exmple, in GLXP most of the talk is about lunar rovers, and little about how do you get them there.
Talk about elaborate guidance methods first have little meaning if there is no launch means developed. The launch means will define the guidance, not the other way around. A rover will be defined by the means to get it onto the Moon. Sort of too much horse the before cart the. Charles |

Wow! I totally agree with that. I wonder why thay do that? And I wonder why I don't see much hardware? These guy's are supposed to have some money right? Seems to much like a ploy to get money for nothing. I don't know?

I agree with Charles. Paul has mentioned that something similar to this may become a discussion after the N-Prize has been won. I seem to remember him hinting he had further ideas and I would be shocked if this wacky idea succeeds that he wouldn't attempt another and maybe even set the bar higher, but that is a discussion for another day.

Awesome!
That'll mean, even if I don't win this one, I'll still have the chance to get the prestige of winning an N-prize ![]() |

I think Paul mentioned something along the lines of carrying on doing things when he was last on The Space Show.
