Iain or "TheFlyingKiwi" to Space Fellowship members has anounced his plans to participate in the N-Prize, his site says:
Well I thought about it long and hard and have entered into the N-Prize competition, all my paper work is with Paul and its all going to be official very soon and on their website but I thought I'd mention it here first!! Its going to be a long and hard time ahead to achieve this goal, I have alot to do before September 2011 but all do able tasks. Right now I have started on the Calculations and design work side of the project so its all paper work and crazy math problems right now, I hope to get all this finalized in the next few months or so and then start building hardware!!!!! Please feel free to discuss this topic further... _________________ > http://www.fullmoonclothing.com > http://www.facebook.com/robsastrophotography > robgoldsmith@hotmail.co.uk |

Yes the Team name is "Kiwi 2 Space"
The choice of name stems back to when I was doing model rocketry, as I wanted a name for all my rocketry activites, so I figured it would be easier to stick with that than come up with a new name for the N-Prize. As for how I'll do it, I'll give a brief overview, it's might change as progress gets made so don't hold me to it! The plan is to use a 3-4 stage rocket, with a liquid booster and solid upper stages, using a balloon launch similar to how The Davinchi Project were going to launch. Spin stabilised upper stages just like Explorer 1. I'm more going for the tried and tested ways of getting there but keeping it simple as well, thats the bigeest thing I believe with this prize, you do not want to over complicate it. I'am working on an igniter at the moment for the booster engines, in between mapping everything out, so things are starting to roll!
