We're starting to get the final configurations together for the advanced research. I just posted a drawing of what one of the tests will look like.

Hello, jpowell,
could an ATO or an Ascender be kept at the upper le´vel of clouds of gas giants - that level to be seen from Earth? That might be interesting for reserach or even mining hydrogen. Is the size of the wings of the ATO sufficient or would its weight be a problem? Would the Ascender be more fit to such tasks? Dipl.-Volkswirt (bdvb) Augustin (Political Economist) |

Hello, jpowell,
The german journal Wirtschaftswoche reported on 23rd of June this year thatthere is a new material for the hulls of balloons that reduces the required amount of propane of hot-air-balloons by 50%. The material is called Aerofabrix. It has been developed by Ingenieurbüro Bormann in Kleinmachnow in Brandenburg (Germany), the Institut für Luft- und Raumfahrt der Technischen Universität Berlin, the technosche Uniiversität Dresden (Germany) and the spabish balloon manufacturer UltraMagic. Might that material be of interest for Ascender, DSSs and the Tandems and Micro-Tandems as well? Or do you alreday apply soemthing like that or even something better? Have you considered using laser boost, using a ground based laser to provide thrust? Dean Ing used this idea in THE BIG LIFTERS http://authors.wizards.pro/books/titles ... ig-lifters

We think we can power the entire vehicle internally with the need for beamed power.

I messed that one up. It should read without the need for beamed power.

John, you have two more spam to remove: http://jpaerospace.com/blog/?p=1253#comments the second one, and at http://jpaerospace.com/blog/?p=1674#comments the one posted by "Daphine". The link forwards to that of a Dutch one-man marketing firm, who probably paid someone for some SEO. Perhaps you could disable the ability to post a website link when you comment? It's not used much (and doesn't add much), but it does provide spammers with a means for peddling their wares.

Got them. The spam posts are getting really bad on the blog. The filter catches about 2000 a day but about 80 get though.

I think some effort could be saved by making a custom human verification thingie. For example, I recently set up a forum using SMF. Within days of it going online, several spambots were registering every day. Then I modified the captcha to require the verification code being entered twice, with instructions in norwegian(it's a norwegian forum) at the bottom of the licence agreement text. Haven't had a single spambot register there since. That was about a week ago. |
