Well it looks like the Russians and Europeans are going the apollo way with a new design for the ACTS crew module, the concept was approved late January, looks just like the apollo capsule but would need a new launcher to reach orbit though.....

While I think its great that Russia and Europe are talking about creating a new manned spacecraft I'm yet to be convinced that this will actually happen. The Klipper project has been bounced around for years without anything actually being built and I see no difference with this.
I'm also a bit dissappointed that an Apollp style capsule is being touted as the prefered design. Not only does this smack of playing "follow the leader" with NASA it also appears to show that there is a lack of homegrown ideas and a tendancy to play it safe. _________________ A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. |

I'm currently preparing a story about the Soyuz 2-3 the Russians presented on MAKS last year. That launcher could lift significantly more than the current versions.
