Post Step towards an orbital spaceport   Posted on: Wed Jan 16, 2008 1:39 pm
The article "Russians Plan New Space Platform" ( http://www.space.com/businesstechnology ... tform.html ) is reporting that the Russian have in mind or even plan an orbital platform to do lunar5 missions from:
Quote:
The Russian space agency stated that it intends to develop a space platform from which missions to the moon and to Mars could be launched. According to agency director Anatoly Perminov, the space platform project should be up and working after 2020. Russia plans its first moon mission for 2025.

It might be interesting to watch what will go on until 2025.

The Russians always have great plans and doubtless great engineering skills but no (not enough) money allocated to their space activities. A few years ago they had no money at all, today the money is divided between the resources' godfathers.

If Russia keeps heading in the direction Putin has taken it, I imagine its space activities could soon be very well funded indeed.

I think the godfathers are the real power in Russia. As long as Putin doesn't interfere he can keep his might, when he'll start acting against the godfathers' interests he'll be out of "office" fast.

Putin is on his way out of the office already... might be heading for the prime ministers office though - time will tell...

And he's one of the richest in Russia already, and part of the "godfathers" himself.

The question is, what will the new President do

At least media here in Germany implies and speculates that whoever will be the next Russian President, will be more or less controlled by Putin.

It's an interesting solution.I would like to say that the idea should go further. Why not join with the module a Space Stadium and an Assembly Line.Sports events like the Biomecathlon and Ginko race could settle there.Companies from all around the world could bring tourist and sports fans.Tourists could go to the moon with a Space Bus.Individuals Space Shuttle could dock there.Enough money generate by the events could permit to develop the Vertical Levitation Train.

Such a thing could be a major step for space development.
