This year's event was a bit slim on rockets, with only one Lunar Lander flying and only a handful of High Power Rockets. But with that single lander accomplishing 6 flights, including a near win, a crash onto pad, a risky early thrust failure and hard starts with the last one igniting a fire on the pad, this was a pretty complex and interesting one man show. Double or triple that next year and this is going to be a busy and full event!
The air show was of course outstanding, from thundering jets at close range to a hang glider. From helicopters delivering troops to helicopters doing loops! From jumpers plummeting fast to jets climbing faster - the way we want our rockets to climb! News of the successful first flight of the new "Rocket Racer" was of course as welcome as will be its presence next year. For those planning to be disappointed, it is true that this new space race is developing slowly. For those with more passion and faith, it is equally true that this "Dream is Alive" and will bear fruit sooner that the one highlighted in the IMAX movie of that name. |
