Post Team meetings etc. of the LLC   Posted on: Thu Aug 30, 2007 10:51 am
What's the reason that non-participation in the team meeting of the Lunar Lander Challenge turns a team ineligible for a prize?

What does happen on that meeting that requires presence? As far as it doesn't involve demonstrations all the results and agreements achieved on that meeting might be emailed to those who weren't present - enebaling them to behave according to those resukts.

Simply spoken: the rules require presence.
An example out of "a different world": If you want to drive a car race, you have to attend a driver's briefing although it's always the same you get told there.. respect the others, don't take silly risks etc

I guess you are hinting at the disqualification of Micro-Space from the LLC.

Hello, Klaus,

yes, that I was hinting to.

But regarding the example of the car race - if that's the reason I can't consider the rules to be alright because of a simple difference. Micro Space is a company that must behave so that it is able to cause the entrepreneur - Richard Speck - and the employees an income they can live of. This forces it and the entrepreneur to be where it/he needs to be to get the business getting them the income.

This is a quite different situation than the car racer is in - at the Formular 1 the racing is his profession and business and the situation of Ric´hard Speck is not possible. If the race is a race not earning the car racer an income it is completely private.

But the LLC is a competition nobody can live of nor being completely private.

Because of this the rules are inadequate under the aspect of the nature and inescapable circumstances of the competitors in my eyes. They are acceptable only if such a presence is required for organisational, safety or similar reasons.

In case you all hadn't heard:

from Leonard David's LiveScience.com Blog
Quote:
Micro-Space of Denver, Colorado has missed a required milestone — a Team Summit — making them ineligible to win prize money in 2007. The team will continue their development, however, and have a presence at this year’s Wirefly X Prize Cup
