Let's start with a short quiz question:
Who was called the last Soviet citizen? _________________ "The hardest hurdle to space isn't the technicalities and money. But rather, the courage and the will to do it." - Burt Rutan. |

It seems that the question is a bit too difficult. At least Sigurd said that
The so-called last Soviet citizen is Russian Cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev, who spent already over 800 days in space and is currently backup commander for an upcoming Soyuz flight. But back to his "nickname". He launched in 1991 to the space station Mir before the Soviet Union fell apart. Because his replacement as flight engineer for the Mir has to free his suit for a paying spaceflyer, Krikalev had to spend an additional 6-month tour on Mir, so he returned as a Russian. In that time with Russia having great problems to raise funds for the Mir, it was rumored if the station would be sold to the US. Krikalev onboard Mir asked one time if he and his companion would be included in that deal. Bad tongues tell that they tried to contact Houston in that time, when it wasn't clear when the next Soyuz or Progress would fly due to the budget situation. _________________ "The hardest hurdle to space isn't the technicalities and money. Perhaps we should get more dirty.. Who is rumored to have had the first sex in space? (And I bet that Sigurd knows that!) Wait.. better not so dirty
Let's try a question suitable for the US Presidental Elections campaign: Who was the first black human (I hope that's politically correct) to fly into space? _________________ "The hardest hurdle to space isn't the technicalities and money.
