Hi guys,
I thought that the "Financial Barriers" section of this forum was the most appropriate to post in given that I've just setup a website to help me overcome this rather large obstacle. I'm hoping to become the world's first student space tourist, and I've setup a website to help me along with my challenge: http://www.buymetothestars.com/ I hope you like it! All feedback is much appreciated. Let me know what you think. You can also help me out by visiting the Digg entry and "Digging" me to make the site more popular: http://www.digg.com/space/University_St ... st_via_WWW Thanks for your time folks, Mike Halls-Moore. |

Thanks Rob,
I had a look at your astrophotography site as well. What camera are you using to take the photos? Mike. |

I wish you a lot of luck.. however I fear it's going to be very difficult (and that being an understatement I fear). I hope you have a lot of marketing skills. However.. it's always worth a try.

Sigurd,
Yes, it's definitely going to be difficult. But then people said we'd never get to the Moon (although I suppose some still believe we haven't, haha!). I think it's going to require a combination of persistance, skills and luck. We'll see! Thanks for your support though! Mike. |

hehe thanks for the look! its coming along.
Im using a Philips Toucam Pro Webcam but its been modded so that it has an SC3 chip inside, the case has been removed and a special fitted 1.25" end and thread added. bit crazy but the results are amazing! (if i do say so myself) good luck! _________________ > http://www.fullmoonclothing.com > http://www.facebook.com/robsastrophotography > robgoldsmith@hotmail.co.uk |

Hey Rob,
I've been looking to get into astrophotography for a while now. I don't suppose you could recommend any beginners guides for this sort of stuff? In particular, could I hook up a Canon 350D camera to most telescopes with the right converter? Also, it looks like CNet have picked up my space tourism story! http://crave.cnet.co.uk/0,39029477,49285503,00.htm See ya later, Mike. |

I wonder if I wear a t-shirt of a really high profile company, maybe they'll buy a galaxy for my homepage?
Rob, where's a good place in the UK to go to avoid light pollution? I mean I'm bang in the middle of London. I'm guessing the coast, as long as it's a moonless night? Mike. |

Think sponsorship is the key to money here.

So do you regularly head up to the West Coast of Scotland?
Sponshorship is a good idea...maybe I could get people to sponsor me by buying a star? There's plenty of Aeronautics organisations that might help. Time to get on the press bandwagon again! Mike. |
