The news was already on the forum before space.com reported it

Okay, I may be biased toward Starchaser but that is a beautiful ship you Americans have built yourselves. Go for it.

105,000ft apogee photos are up!!! Absolutely stunning!!
![]() http://www.scaled.com/projects/tierone/ ... s_text.htm Although the shots are wide-angle, it looks like they are in space already. I wonder how much atmosphere there is at such an altitude and what it would feel like in the cockpit? _________________ We're going back... www.transorbital.net/ | www.lunacorp.com | www.asi.org | www.space-frontier.org |

Not enough apt, to support a plane, barely enough to support a ballon.
I think it all goes black at 80K ft. Nice shots though. _________________ What goes up better doggone well stay up! - Morgan Gravitronics, Company Slogan. |

100,000 feet is about Mars equivalent.
The balloon altitude record is about 170,000 feet. An X-15 could maintain horizontal aerodynamic flight at 100,000 feet. |

I hope they provide the entire video of their actual x-prize flights (when the time comes).

The various alloys and coatings that were so exotic when the Dyna-Soar airframe was developed forty years ago are now commerically available. It might be possible to build an orbital version of SpaceShipOne using those same alloys and coatings.

I wonder how much atmosphere there is at such an altitude and what it would feel like in the cockpit? yes, that pic is  worthy indeed. At that height they are starting to get up there in the mesosphere, so there's basically no atmosphere. the cabin still probably feels close to what an airliner's does, albeit a zero-g airliner. _________________ Cornell 2010- Applied and Engineering Physics Software Developer Also, check out my fractals |

See, what do I know?
Who wants webcam footage? They need to be taking 3 CCD HD cameras on each flight. Web footage is ah ew... _________________ What goes up better doggone well stay up! - Morgan Gravitronics, Company Slogan. |
