Post Which team competing in 2004 was using LOX/methane?   Posted on: Tue May 16, 2006 12:05 pm
In the thread next xprize competion in the "Who's going to lead the race to space?" section Thursday, June 17th 2004 1:17 pm I listed a propulsion-concept "Methane & Liquid Oxygen" - but didn't add the team using LOX/methane.

What team might it have been? that time? XCOR? I am not that sure.

I was looking for it because there was - or still is - the idea to use a LOX/methane-engine for the new lunar lander. Additonally the article "ASTRONOTES: Firms Plan Low-cost Workhorse Rocket Engine" ( http://www.space.com/includes/iab.html? ... notes.html ) is reporting that XCOR and ATK team up to develop such an engine.

Advent Launch Services was planning to use liquid methane for their X-Prize vehicle.
See this Ansari X Prize Team Summary sheet: American Advent Launch Services team.
According to Advent's website they are planning to do a test firing of their methane engine in the coming months.
And XCOR never competed for the X Prize.

Thank You Very Much, Soyuz, for your help and this information.

And so I was right to doubt and to be not that sure regarding XCOR.

I will have another look toAdvent Launch System's homepage.

Again Thank You Very Much,
