What about "The creature wasn't Nice" (Known in th UK as Spaceship).
The Ships captain was played by Leslie Nielsen, overacting for all he's worth and Patrick Macnee (From TV's "The Advengers" and "Battlestar Galactica") as Dr Stark the ship's mad science officer. I especially liked the bit when they wired the monster up to a translater and it stated to sing "I just want to eat your face". Also liked the flashing indicators on the rear of the spaceship as it turned to orbit a planet. ![]() http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082213/ _________________ A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. |

Ice Pirates
The Last Starfighter Trek V (The Final Frontier) The Tim Allen flick was "Galaxy Quest" (The Three Amigos in space...) ...hard to compete with Spaceballs, though... "Oh my god, they've gone to plaid!" |

Absolutely most funny of all:
1) Raumpatrouille Orion: Rücksturz ins Kino ![]() A super hilarious remake of the 1965 German series, using 1960's special effects (actually, SFX that were super cheapo even in 1965!), with captain Cliff Allister McLane who's sexier than Jean-Luc Picard, and the best galactic news reader (Elke Heidenreich as Helma Krap ![]() Does anyone know if it's been aired with an English title? The direct translation would read something like "Space Patrol Orion: Re-entry to the Cinema". Live long and prosper Max ![]() _________________ There's space for all of us, if each will leave some space for the next one ![]() The ideas expressed above are my own, not necessarily those of my employer. |

Red Dwarf anybody?
"Its cold outside, theres no kind of atmosphere, I'm all alone, more or less, let me fly far away from here, fun fun fun, in the sun sun sun, I want to lie ship-wrecked and comatose, drinking fresh mango juice, Gold fish shoals niblling at my toes..." _________________ What goes up better doggone well stay up! - Morgan Gravitronics, Company Slogan. |

Dammit, idiom, you beat me to it. Unfortunately, it's not a movie, but I'm sure the producers would make one just to be included on the Top Ten list.
And SawSS1: The Last Starfighter isn't one of the funniest space movies ever made -- that thing's a classic! Better than Star Wars by far (far away). _________________ American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering In Memoriam... Red Dwarf did well in Australia. I liked Blake's 7 and what about Doctor Who if we're including series and not just movies?

I started watching Dr. Who when I was about 10. It used to come on around 10 p.m. Saturday nights on PBS. (That's Public Broadcasting Service for those of you outside the US. It's the only federally funded TV station we have. They used to run all kinds of British shows late at night. ) But it wasn't a show that every kid watched, only real geeks like me.
Around about '91 we started getting Red Dwarf over here. I thought it was the funniest thing ever. I still have a box of VHS tapes of that show up to like the 5th season. Of course I've got no VCR right now. I have a book somewhere on the history of Red Dwarf, and as I recall, it says that there were talks going on about doing an American version of Red Dwarf for commercial TV, but they fell through for one reason or another. Now, don't ask me WHY anyone would want to do that, in my opinion it defeats the entire purpose of the thing. I have seen like one episode of Blake's 7, but I don't remember much about it. |

Imagine Farscape without any budget....after they destroyed the sets. |

"You mean its just us against the whole Ko-dan armada? It'll be a slaughter!" "That's the spirit!" ...very funny stuff! A good movie, sure; but very much tounge-in-cheek and very humorous. <EDIT> Just found this online: http://www.technovelgy.com/ct/Science-F ... ewsNum=334 (wasn't looking, just stumbled into it.) ...I'm guessing that it is a far cry from Who Dares Wins, but is probably an equally far cry from the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, CA... certainly exponentially removed from the streets of Baghdad. |

Meh, true. And who can forget the über-weapon at the end....... First, come to a full and complete stop. Now, gyrate wildly whilst firing at an insane rate. This method is sure to eradicate any enemies in the vicinity.

You can work out the result of setting that thing off when flying in tight formation. The film probably encoraged kids to play more video games though. ![]() _________________ A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. |
