Does anyone know of any current info' on what Bigalow has been up to recently?
I've been looking but I guess they're as secretive as Rutan was leading up to SS1. There are some tantilising glimpses of development modules on their website but I can't seem to find anything other than that. ![]() _________________ Beancounter from Downunder |

That'd be great. It'd sure make my school's design class liason from Boeing eat crow...
...which is always a fun thought. |

Anyone know where I can surf off a current picture of Robert Bigelow?
I occationally write presentations for another space website and thought Bigelow Aerospace would make an interesting subject. I had thought to include a photo of the man himself but talk about shady, cant find one anywhere. _________________ A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. |

Its no wonder so much myth sorrounds the man, its a surprise such a well known figure who makes public speeches (didn't he address congress a while back when they were discussing space tourism?) dosent have his face plastered everywhere. I thought in the age of the internet there was no anonimity, I guess I was wrong. ![]() _________________ A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. |

The only thing that can destroy a paper trail is a *lot* of money.

I came across this old article in Aviation Week and Space Technology on what Bigelow was doing in Sep 2004 which is probably the most in depth info I've seen. Apart from an odd mention there is very little new stuff out there.
The article says that the first launchs were for 2005/2006 anyone know the current status of when he is going to launch his first genesis inflable on a Dneper booster? http://www.aviationnow.com/avnow/news/c ... 274top.xml _________________ A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. |

The launch is still scheduled for first quarter 2006.

I've known about this article for a while now but didn't realise there was a slide show attached to it.
You get a partial picture of someone the slide show says is Robert Bigalow. There's also a description of him in the article. Don't have any way of verifying the information however. ![]() http://www.popsci.com/popsci/technology ... drcrd.html _________________ Beancounter from Downunder |

I decided to look in google images and came up with this link (which I have seen before and appears to be the same story as beancounter's popsci link):
http://www.mindfully.org/Technology/200 ... 1mar05.htm No picture, but it describes him as, "Robert Bigelow is a trim 60 years old with a full head of salt-and-pepper hair and a matching mustache." And this one, which I have not seen before: http://www.missoulanews.com/News/News.asp?no=2264 Again, no picture. This presents a different side of Bigelow. Come to think of it, I recall reading once that Burt Rutan is something of a UFO enthusiast too. This is getting interesting in a Howard Hughes / X-files kind of way. (EDIT) Here is the picture from the popsci slide show. It cuts his face off JUST enough so you can't tell if he has a mustache or not. ![]() Does that remind you of someone?? ![]() |

I know Rutan was quoted in Wired that he wants to go to mars to see the face, and find out whats there - and he was quite serious (at least that was how I read it)

According ot the latest launch schedule provided by
http://www.skyrocket.de/space/space.html (click "most recent orbital launches -> more" to see complete launch forecast) 2 Bigelow launches using Russian Dnepr-1 in 2006 were planned Genesis-Pathfinder 1 in April and Genesis-Pathfinder 2 in August |
