Caramck expects a 120 sec burn waiver soon:
It looks like we should have it fairly soon, but only for flights at the southwest regional spaceport in New Mexico, which is a long trip. We are probably going to get a 120 second burn time waiver, which will cover us for everything we can do under the 200,000 lb-sec impulse limit. AST isn't requiring a full environmental assesment for the waiver, but they are requiring some level of official environmental work, which is why we can't get one for our property in Texas. |

Dang it all if it doesn't look like they didn't manage to land on those little springs after all ... hats of to Carmack lads, he made it look easy too.

Thanks for posting, Dr. Keith. John and the Armadillo crew are good communicators. Wish some of the other teams were more forthcoming.

Despite being a big fan of Armadillo, I really had doubts about landing that rocket. One more thing that goes to show that Carmack is a top notch programmer.

Yes. And if I may say so *ahem*, he really knows how to play the game.

Here's my prediction for our next "Armadillo alert" (drum roll please)...
Another extremely minor electronics board change is made! If that sounds insulting, compare that prediction to some of the last year's worth of Armadillo Alerts. Honestly, they slap on a spring, change a circut board, or rework a valve and everyone flips for it. You would expect an "alert" to be an intense, new, major development, and I don't think that the vast majority of Armadillo updates qualify for that status. Now, before you all rush over to rip my guts out (like happened before), remember that I do support Armadillo. I'm not attacking the team in any way, I just think that it's absolutely loopy the way some people get so worked up over the tiniest little changes in Armadillo's vehicles. Sure, I'm interested, but I'm not going to go around saying "Armdaillo alert! Armdaillo alert!" every time a part once again fails to ship on time. It's major work we get excited about, people.[/url] _________________ "Yes, that series of words I just said made perfect sense!" -Professor Hubert Farnsworth |

What the heck was that all about? Ok, so you don't have quite the same level of interest/excitement.
Thank you so much for telling us this infinitesimally useful information. DKH (I'm guessing you wanted me to say something Braunster, else why revive this dead ol' thread? Feeling a bit masochistic today?) P.S. Who's "we"? You got multiple personality disorder or something? _________________ Per aspera ad astra |

Four things:
1) "We" as in the alt. space community. 2) A new electronics board is not a revolution in rocket design. 3) I was poking fun at a statement made over six months ago. The whole thing's probably completely moot now. 4) Happy Thursday, all! ![]() _________________ "Yes, that series of words I just said made perfect sense!" -Professor Hubert Farnsworth |

I'm sure the alt.space community are happy to be represented by a highschool student. I'm poking fun at your poking fun. Glass houses and all, y'know. Do you want your guts back?
Hey, while we're here poking each other. Do you know anything about what's going on the Da Vinci mob? I'm only asking because your sig reminds me that we haven't heard from them in some time. DKH P.S. oh wait ... alt.space ... not sci.space ... it's possible you DO represent the general demographic of that group. Sorry, I sort of retract my earlier derision. _________________ Per aspera ad astra |

I'd like my guts back any time you're done with them. If you bring them back, and you've been a really good boy, then maybe I'll give you your guts, too.
No I don't know anything about the DaVinci project. My sig is from Futurama. I'm done with this discussion. S'long! _________________ "Yes, that series of words I just said made perfect sense!" -Professor Hubert Farnsworth |

Sig/avatar ... whatever. They both remind me of BF. Man you are really cross at me. See you in the STC lounge.

Heh heh, not really. I guess it's hard when someone doesn't use emoticons to tell when they're cross and when they're just having facetious fun. The avatar is actually from Canadian Arrow, but they don't seem to be faring much better than DaVinci. It is a really cool pic, though, you must admit.
I'm not cross, I just get annoyed sometimes. I'm sure you must know what that feels like. ![]() _________________ "Yes, that series of words I just said made perfect sense!" -Professor Hubert Farnsworth |
