Imagine your a owner of a private company that designs and builds micro satellites and you require a launcher to launch your satellites.
My question is: What is the maximum amount you would be willing to pay per kg (2.20 pounds) (payload weight only) to launch your micro sats? Feel free to discuss below. _________________ Peter Wallhead Wallhead Aerospace Research Centre (WARC) http://www.peterwallhead.com Last edited by pwallhead on Tue Feb 19, 2008 4:26 am, edited 1 time in total. |

Considering that the cheapest U can get today is around 10 000$/kg and there is a lack of dedicated mini-launchers and the increasing interest in so called "nano-sattelites" then if you can get anywhere near below 10grand/kg you're in business. If you can get 1000$/kg you've got the market cornered. If SS1 had a disposable launcher for nanosats and a dependable contract from some telecom or defence agency, that target is withing reach, other customers will come in time.

We are looking right at $50,000 for a payload of 55lbs. or less.
