I have said in another thread some time ago (last year) that a base of numbers is needed as fundament for discussing financial barriers or simply the fincial ressources required. There were nearly no numbers available that time which now has been changed. The only exception are (were) the numbers Prof. Collins found
The numbers now available were menat also to check Prof. Collins‘ numbers for 2030 by applying numbers available about vehicles existing, designed or under development now. The numbers are: Investment suborbital $ 20 mio/$ 25 mio orbital $ 400 mio/$ 10 mio expendable booster orbital $ 400 mio/$ 10 mio reusable booster lunar $ 500 mio going to be checked lunar orbit $ 600 mio going to be checked lunar landing $ 800 mio – 2100 mio going to be checked Ticket price/costs suborbital $ 200,000 down to $ 20,000 orbital $ 4 mio at 5 passengers up to $ 20 mio at 1 passenger expendable booster orbital $ 25,000 at 5 passengers up to $ 125,000 at 1 passenger reusable booster lunar $ 15.6 NOW - $ 170,000 2030 going to be checked lunar orbit $ 26.5 mio NOW - $ 320,000 2030 going to be checked lunar landing $ 18 mio NOW - $ 240,000 2030 going to be checked Flight price/costs suborbital $ 1.4 mio to $ 120,000 price orbital $ 4 mio at 5 passengers up to $ 20 mio at 1 passenger expendable booster orbital $ 25,000 at 5 passengers up to $ 125,000 at 1 passenger reusable booster lunar $ 58 mio NOW - $ 720,000 2030 going to be checked lunar orbit $ 112 mio NOW - $ 1.4 mio 2030 going to be checked lunar landing $ 89 mio NOW - $ 1.2 mio 2030 going to be checked What all does this open up? There is something SpaceDev has said last year which has been discussed a little bit at this board but can be judged better based on these numbers. ... ... ... And what about Mars? I will not look for numbers in this thread – to look for numbers for Mars another thread should be initiated. But it is worth to discuss it here without doung what has been going on and continues to go on in the Accumulations-thread, the CXV-thread and the Lunar Soyuz-thread.
