In the past I said in the threads about Mars that the Mars would be a good location for CO2-emitting industries.
What about Venus now? The deeper atmosphere of the planet is very hot and there are industries on Earth which need that high temperatures. On Earth they have to be generated by consumption of energy while in the venusian atmosphere the heat would be available for free. What would be need are equipments, machines and technologies to be installed in regions of the venusian atmosphere that are cooler and which are acid-proof. The mining products of asteroid mining could be melted there for example. May be that at least partially much higher temperatures are required but a lot of energy could be saved this way. What technologies and equipments are thinkable? Which industries could or should be installed there? Dipl.-Volkswirt (bdvb) Augustin (Political Economist) |

The moon is just fine. Just put some big fission reactors there--and you will have all the heat you need.
For high pressures, Venus might work--if it doesn't crush the plant you want to build there. I think we'd be better off focusing on the big rockets we need to put useful payloads on either of these two worlds. |

According to the article "Venus Glows in Invisible Light" ( www.space.com/scienceastronomy/090224-venus-glow.html ) nitric oxygen has been foound on Venus.
Might that turn the planet a bit more interestimg under the aspect of industries? Dipl.-Vokswirt (bdvb) Augustin (Political Economist) |
