See "LightCraft" http://www.hobbyspace.com/AAdmin/archiv ... #Mar.17.04 "Leik Myrabo, Professor at RPI & CEO Lightcraft Technologies Beamed Energy Propulsion Survey Update On The Lightcraft Project " Its been tested, i have seen a test launch video from sometime in 2000. |

I am not that sure but he article "Experiment Boosts Hopes for Space Solar Power" ( www.space.com/businesstechnology/080912 ... -test.html ) that it is possible - applying radio waves at least.
But an experiment would be required. It hasn't been done from a moving satellite to a fixed receiver on the ground yet. And in this thread the receiver woul move (also). So if it will prove to work from satellite to ground this also seems to mean that it works if the transmitter moves at a few km relatively to the receiver or less. So a vehicle might receive energy if it temporarily enters an orbit. It would be interesting if it is achievable to do it with out the orbit by passing the transmitter simply. ... ... ... (?)
