I had some time to think on this so here we go.
Ground to Earth orbit for people. The first ship that should be developed should be for ground to Earth orbit. Its will be for 2-6 crew and light cargo. Nothing to fancy. The vehicle should be able to take off from a runway with or with out an assist vehicle (like space ship one). And have the turn around time with in a day if possible. This will cut down on the massive cost of putting people into space and provide a fast response vehicle for emergency or small parts and supplies request. This vehicle will have to be able to dock at the ISS or other space platform as time goes on. And bathroom facilities you will need them. For the first one or two ships NASA should keep it to these needs since if they let everyone push what they want you will see the price tag jump sky high and if you don’t believe me look at the shuttles. Note the 2-6 crew will be six crew and minimum cargo load or two with maximum cargo load Heavy lift vehicle. For the next space ship a heavy lift vehicle. One option can be the shuttle “C” since it uses existing technology and can be used past the shuttles retirement. This is until a new Saturn like rocket is developed for the heavy lift use. This will allow you to start the lunar project earlier and maintain a heavy lift capability that the shuttle has. Explorer space ship. For the explorer space ship you can build it to remain in space since other vehicles can handle these jobs. And with this restriction out of the way you can build a bigger ship with more space for crew and supplies. One idea I came up with is to build an erecter set type ship with 16 compartments to fit space station type modules. This will allow you to carry all the supplies, base modules, vehicle and passengers you need to start a base or do exploration. And you can reconfigure it as the missions needs. Moon base. For the moon base after the initial base is set up a main colony hub should be constructed to start colonization of the moon and do the research in techniques, construction and mining that will be needed to establish and colonization of other destinations like Mars and beyond. NASA better not play the same games they did with the ISS until the Russians pushed it down their throats with the tourism. At lest the transportation system will be in place for others to follow so in time humanity will have move out into the Solar System and in time beyond. Quote: It's "sense" not sins. Kids' spelling today is horrid. Just another joyous benefit of our public school system. Is this a great country or what? ![]() On the other hand, I've always thought that if an engineer didn't misspell the same word three different ways in the same paper, he or she wasn't using their imagination. DJBREIT, you've done an excellent job developing an initial plan for space development. There are a number of companies that are proceeding along these lines as we speak. |

If we could combine a high altitude launches
http://www.skyramp.org/high.htm with a tether orbital boost facility http://www.tethers.com/OrbitToOrbit.html Now that would be cool! ![]() |

Let’s get off the spelling its fixed.
They’re where two reasons I wrought this. One was for the amount for complaining about NASA. Most of the problem is not causes by NASA it self but by Congress. (You can see it starting already. follow the link) http://www.floridatoday.com/news/space/ ... onplan.htm If you leave it up to Congress it will become over bloated and in time fall apart. The second reason I wrought this was to make a document that can be sent off to NASA and some news media to voice a plausible and less expensive approach to doing this. Also there is a little X-prize advertisement that can be worked in to it. But I was hoping you guy could add some opinions and/or ideas to improve or add to the document with out getting to detailed. And if we (as in the forum community) think the document is worth releasing it will be released. |
