Post Making use of the martian moons   Posted on: Wed Nov 02, 2005 8:04 am
Under www.marssociety.de there was an article yesterday saying that Russia and China are talking about teaming up to sned two satellites to Mars which use a relay station on of the two martian moons.

The relay station is called as if it were something like a lunar station which could be crewd but not as something like a communication satellite.

This may have to do with the russian plan to do a sample return mission to Phobos.

This looks technological profgressive to me because no readjustment by ion engines like required for earthian satellites.

Waht about it? And why hasn't tried that NASA or ESA yet?

What about privates doing that? Bigelow for example or SpaceX - oh, and what about MicroSpace in cooperation with one of the two? Because of the development for the Google Lunar XPRIZE?

Such a relay station might be of interest also for private exploration of Mars like ARCHIMEDES.

What about locating it all into the inner of Phobos to be protected against radiation?
